The Product

“SIA” (Shape memory alloy Impact Actuator)

Seidensha created the haptic feedback device “SIA” (Shape memory alloy Impact Actuator) in cooperation with Ryoyo Electro and TGK.

The SIA gives tactile feedback to effectively simulate the feeling of clicking an actual button. The SIA is being used in capacitance switches, pressure-sensitive switches, and touch panels.

Seidensha also offers a simple Evaluation Kit or customized Demo System with the SIA.

APPLICATIONS:

ATM

Touch panel

example with two SIA mounted

Pad for notebook PC

Pad for PC (remodeling for tactile presentation)

The Technology

Compared to existing technology, the SIA offers a sensational haptic feedback. The key lies in the difference of acceleration as shown in the graphs below.

Existing technology only gives out weak vibrations. This is where the single and strong acceleration of the SIA stands out. It gives you a real sensation of “pushing a button”.

FEATURES:

  • Adopts current-carrying shape memory alloy
  • Impulse-like strong impact
  • Fast response
  • Simple structure
  • Low cost
  • Simple drive circuit
  • High reliability
  • Pressure-sensitive sensor function
  • Zero-displacement recessed switch sensation

The SIA technology has been patented.
